Considerations to increase equal participation and equality of women and men

At its initiation, the network consists of 70 registered researchers (from 12 countries), of which 26 are women, or 37 %. This is indeed a favourable point of departure, considering the fact that Cold War studies have traditionally been a research area heavily dominated by males. In several of the countries involved there are even more female doctoral students in the field of Cold War related research who have not yet been registered in the network, and considering the current high recruitment rate of women among university students of the humanities in the Nordic countries and in Europe in general, prospects appear even more favourable in the three years to come for increasing the equal participation of female researchers.
