Estimated number of  research students from each country expected to participate in the network

It is estimated that during the three years, Denmark will provide at least four or five additional PhD students to the present three to the network, i.e. a total of at least eight. Sweden is estimated to provide at least 10 doctoral students during the three years. Norway is clearly in front with some 30 PhD students at present, and will probably provide at least 10 additional candidates throughout the period. Finland has at present some 20 PhD students and is expected to increase this number with another ten during the operating period. Iceland and Estonia at present have four registered PhD students in the network, and is expected to raise the number by at least another four. This makes a total of some 85 network PhD students in the six Nordic/Baltic countries during the three years period. At this point, one Polish and one Dutch PhD student are also registered members of the network. The rate of PhD students from the other Baltic countries and from associated countries could no doubt be raised considerably, bringing the total number of PhD students of the network well above 100 during the three years.
